Do I need a bookkeeper?

What accounting software do you use?

Start Great Bookkeeping is owned and operated by a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.  All our clients’ books are managed via QuickBooks Online. Why QuickBooks Online? One key advantage is that you can hire a professional bookkeeper to manage your finances without needing an in-house accounting team. It also provides real-time financial tracking, allowing you, your bookkeeper, or your accountant to access your QuickBooks account from any web browser, giving you instant access to crucial financial information anytime, anywhere.

Do I need a bookkeeper if I have an accountant?

To put it simply, you need them both. A Bookkeeper takes care of recording financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, sales, and payments. Accounting looks at the bigger picture. Typically, the accountant will go over the data recorded by the bookkeeper, verifying the financial statements and providing business owners with financial insights based on information taken from the bookkeeping data.

Do I need to hire a local bookkeeper?

Not necessarily. At Great Start Bookkeeping, we provide Online bookkeeping services with QuickBooks so we are able to work with clients across the country. The internet and cloud technology make it easy for us to securely access our clients’ books anytime, anywhere. Business owners can now select a bookkeeper who truly understands their operations, instead of hiring the local, community bookkeeper by default.

Do you provide Payroll service?

Yes, we can help with your Payroll (with a 3rd party payroll administrator such as Wagepoint or ADP). We will handle your payroll process, give you a heads-up, and handle government remittances.

Do you provide Income Tax Return Services?

No, we don’t. However, we collaborate with a number of different CPAs within the Winnipeg, and Manitoba areas. Chartered Professional Accountants are qualified financial professionals responsible for analyzing financial reports, conducting audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, reviewing Fiscal Year Ends, and filing personal and business income tax returns with the CRA.
